This class is for parents who have either been mandated by the courts or referred by a professional to attend a parenting program. The program focuses on increasing the use of positive parenting practices through the development of empathy, impulse control and anger management.
This class is a series of small group meetings. Parents enjoy a meal or snack, then, meet with a parent educator in a supportive group setting. Parents have the opportunity to discuss basic parental role expectations, problem solving techniques, conflict resolution and healthy communication skills.
A parent/child activity is discussed at each meeting and encouraged outside of class. On-site childcare is available, in most cases.
Parenting programs are a wonderful time for families to learn, share and grow together.
Pre-Registration is required. Please contact the Parent Education Consortium, (319) 399-6809.
