College for Kids

Grant Wood AEA's College for Kids is a summer program offering advanced level academic and fine arts courses in the college setting to talented and gifted students who have completed 6th, 7th or 8th grade.  Through the College for Kids experience, students are offered advanced curricula more commonly found at the high school and college level.  Students also have the opportunity to further explore a hobby or a topic of interest not typically available in middle school general education.

Two College for Kids sessions are held each summer during the months of June and July, located at Coe College.  Classes are held Monday through Friday mornings (8:30 - 11:50 a.m.).  The dates for the 2009 program are:

Session A:  June 15-26, 2009

Session B:  July 13-24, 2009

Students are identified by their school as eligible for the College for Kids Academic Enrichment strand or the Art/Fine Arts strand.  Eligible students must turn in a “Request for Registration Packet” form, provided by the College for Kids representative or art teacher from his/her school.  Upon receipt of the request form, Grant Wood AEA will issue College for Kids Registration materials to the student.
